What comes to mind when you hear that word? If you’re like most, it conjures up images of endless kale smoothies, “cleansing” salads and a whole lot of restrictions. Hardly enticing, especially in the dead of winter when all you want to do is curl up under a blanket. But detox doesn’t have to mean deprivation, grueling regimes or even major lifestyle changes. Detox is as much a state of mind as it is a process.
What does detox mean to us?
Detox means freeing yourself of toxic feelings like fear, hostility and negativity. It’s about letting go of the worries and anxieties that are holding you back from achieving your potential. It’s about quieting the little voice in your head that prevents you from chasing your dreams. It’s about treating yourself with love and respect and kindness. The same kindness that you show to those around you.
Even if you’re embarking on a detox plan solely to achieve a higher degree of physical health or increase your energy levels, a little self-love goes a long way. Whether it’s a steaming cup of tea, a relaxing yoga session, sharing a belly-laugh with a friend or a nourishing homemade meal, I hope your detox leaves you feeling refreshed, relaxed and most importantly, hopeful.
