Beautiful and Delicious Detox Salads

As you all know, it’s detox season at the Tea Emporium. I’d like to share two of my favourite salad recipes with you this week. They’re both beautiful, colourful, light, nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory and most importantly, absolutely delicious! Both pair well with tea, an added bonus.

1 Red Bell Pepper-julienned

1 Green Mango-Julienned or diced

Half a red onion-finely sliced (optional)beautiful kale

Handful of raw pumpkin seeds

2 teaspoons of finely chopped jalapeno, seeds removed (optional)

What Detox Means to Us

What comes to mind when you hear that word? If you’re like most, it conjures up images of endless kale smoothies, “cleansing” salads and a whole lot of restrictions. Hardly enticing, especially in the dead of winter when all you want to do is curl up under a blanket. But detox doesn’t have to mean deprivation, grueling regimes or even major lifestyle changes. Detox is as much a state of mind as it is a process.

What does detox mean to us?

Detox means freeing yourself of toxic feelings like fear, hostility and negativity. It’s about letting go of the worries and anxieties that are holding you back from achieving your potential.  It’s about quieting the little voice in your head that prevents you from chasing your dreams. It’s about treating yourself with love and respect and kindness. The same kindness that you show to those around you.

Even if you’re embarking on a detox plan solely to achieve a higher degree of physical health or increase your energy levels, a little self-love goes a long way. Whether it’s a steaming cup of tea, a relaxing yoga session, sharing a belly-laugh with a friend or a nourishing homemade meal,  I hope your detox leaves you feeling refreshed, relaxed and most importantly, hopeful.

A Perfect Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is on the approach and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s a day that celebrates love, friendship, care, devotion and companionship. It is a celebration of human connection, without judgement or prejudice. A day, when we remember how much those we love mean to us and how much we cherish them. Celebrated by lovers, families and friends all around the world, Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to remind our loved ones just how much they mean to us.

Besides the obvious pink and red displays that make my heart melt, I enjoy Valentine’s because I get a chance to shower my loved ones with affection. Candy, chocolates, flowers and of course tea. No Valentine’s is ever complete without a proper tea time. Now when I say proper, I mean exactly that. I take out my polished silverware, my decorative tea set, my sandwich platters, flower ornaments and of course lots and lots of hearts. If you are looking for some Valentine’s Day teas, I have you covered. Here are my favourite teas that will warm the hearts of your loved ones:

Rooibos Provence

Rooibos Prickly Pear

Garden of Eden

Blend 103

African Queen

I hope you all enjoy these teas and have a wonderful, warm and loving Valentine’s Day!

Gluten Free Tea? You heard us right.

With the recent discovery that tea is not actually 100% gluten free, tea drinkers were surprised. How can tea have gluten in it? Simple. Most of the processed teas come from factories where gluten is a very popular resident. Unless tea is certified gluten free, you will not get the full reassurance of it being completely free of any gluten particles.  Solution? Certified Gluten Free Tea. And yes, the Tea Emporium is the only tea company in Canada to certify its teas as gluten free. Our line of gluten-free teas is exciting, delicious and healthy. We choose the best tea and make sure it fits your every need. So go ahead – choose your perfect tea, even if it’s gluten-free!
